About us

Our group has been in existence since 1985 and meets regularly on the second Saturday of the month in Faversham, Kent from about 2 p.m. until about 5.

Members are drawn not only from the town but also from a wide area of East Kent and are of all abilities from beginner to the very experienced. The interests of those in the group are pretty varied, covering such areas as AFVs, ships, aircraft and, of course, military figures,(visit our picture gallery) and regular demonstrations are arranged throughout the year on a wide variety of modelling techniques, by fellow club members or visiting modellers. Recent subjects have included the sculpting of busts, the creation of bases and convincing groundwork, and miniature ship modelling while, in the near future, we are planning further seminars on casting, painting with acrylics and, intriguingly, the modelling of truly symmetrical accessories!

We strive to keep our meetings informal, relaxed and friendly and this provides the perfect opportunity for everyone to join in the exchange of news, views and modelling skills.

We occasionally participate in other club shows and, from time to time, have arranged outings, including trips to Waterloo, the WWI battlefields, Duxford and various other military museums, both public and private.

Among our members are such world class modellers as Tony Greenland (AFVs), Geoffrey Illsley (figures and aircraft) and Trevor Morgan (principally flat figures). So why not come and meet us, there's no joining fee or annual subscription. We are always delighted to welcome new members regardless of age, sex or ability – all we ask is enthusiasm and a real interest in our hobby and, in turn, we’re sure you’ll discover that joining a club really is the best way to improve your modelling skills.
